We
have added this page to help alert all Veterans and Shipmates about the
dangerous effects related to Agent Orange. Among our shipmates I know there are
at least four of us that are affected. I’m sure that there are more of you all
out there, and we want to make you aware of the dangers. There are a few
Veterans organizations that will help with the issues, however the battle is
still on for us all. While we were on patrol off Vietnam, and went ashore while
we were there, we became infected with the toxin of Agent Orange. The toxin also
came from the water that we drank, even though we distilled the salt water to
make fresh water.
The Veterans Administration has acknowledged that I have been infected by Agent Orange and approved my claim, and the claims of others as well. The deck log for 1965, and the MUC letter along with some statements from your brothers that served with you will help you in your claim. From 1968-70 Market Time documentation for "Boots on Ground" needs to be researched and any help from any shipmates would help.
The main reason for this page is to inform and encourage all that maybe suffering from any of these illnesses to contact your Veterans Service Officer of your state or organization that you are a member of and get your compensation.
